In June 2022, some of the leading experts at the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit outlined the cybersecurity industry’s top trends, illustrating a vastly evolving mixture of threat targets as well as threat types. There’s an obvious relationship between these clearly defined trends and why we’re seeing the debut of what is now being coined “managed extended detection and response” (MXDR) firms.
It turns out this MXDR label is really a result of the need to illustrate that the old way of being a managed security service provider (MSSP) no longer addresses the threat trends we’re seeing highlighted at the world’s top cybersecurity knowledge-sharing venues.
